The Africa's Big Five Fire Pit is crafted from heavy-duty mild carbon steel and finished with a natural iron oxide patina. This living finish will continue to mature and develop character over time as it is exposed to the elements and regular use.

Upon arrival, you may notice a powdery iron oxide finish. This is a natural part of development process and contributes to the unique character of the piece. Regular use will continue to mature and enrich the finish.

Do not tarp your fire pit, the tarp will cause the patina to blacken and stop the oxidation process. In many cases the color of the tarp will transfer to the new steel. During the maturing process keep wet leaves and debris off the piece until the steel matures. Allow the piece to mature with each fire. Sit back, relax and enjoy your new Fire Pit Art®.

For wood-burning models, periodically remove ash and debris from the fire bowl to maintain proper airflow and performance. Gas-burning models should have burner and ignition components inspected periodically to ensure safe and reliable operation.
