The Third Rock Fire Pit features a natural iron oxide patina that is designed to mature beautifully over time. Exposure to weather and regular fires will gradually deepen the finish, creating a rich and permanent appearance unique to each fire pit.

The high-temperature coated inner bowl is designed to withstand years of use, while the exterior patina continues to develop character with every season. During the initial weathering process, it is normal for the finish to evolve and darken.

Do not tarp your fire pit, the tarp will cause the patina to blacken and stop the oxidation process. In many cases the color of the tarp will transfer to the new steel. During the maturing process keep wet leaves and debris off the piece until the steel matures. Allow the piece to mature with each fire. Sit back, relax and enjoy your new Fire Pit Art®.

For wood-burning models, periodically remove ash and debris from the fire bowl to maintain proper airflow and performance. Gas-burning models should have burner and ignition components inspected periodically to ensure safe and reliable operation.
